In 2011, TRT women won Delta overall title, UBC Grand Prix, Giro di Burnaby and White Rock Criterium at BC Superweek
VANCOUVER, BC – After posting some strong results early on in the 2012 season, the Trek Red Truck Racing Team presented by Mosaic Homes is looking forward to some racing in its home city of Vancouver for BC Superweek.
BC Superweek is a highlight for elite racers in the Pacific Northwest, as it hosts some of the season’s most exciting races; each one attracting hundreds to thousands of spectators and fans, and offering some of the best prize money on the year’s race calendar.
The Trek Red Truck Racing Team always looks forward to putting on a show for BC Superweek, as the team has the opportunity to race on home soil in front of many of their family, friends and sponsors. Last year, the woman’s team dominated the podiums at all of the BC Superweek Races, with Karlee Gendron winning the overall Omnium at the Tour De Delta, Shoshauna Laxson winning the inaugural UBC Criterium, Julia Garnett winning the Giro di Burnaby, and Karlee Gendron winning the Criterium at the Tour De White Rock. With the addition of reigning provincial road champ Jenny Lehmann to the roster, the TRT girls will be aiming for a repeat performance in 2012.
The men’s team is also looking forward to making a splash at Superweek. The Elite Men’s roster will be out in force, and after recently completing the Tour de Beauce and Canadian Nationals, the boys are in fine form. Watch for Cody Canning who just took 2nd place in the criterium at Nationals, and won the overall at Race the Ridge. TRT veteran Tyler Trace, hailing from Victoria, BC, will also be looking for some results at BC Superweek. Tyler was the 2011 BC Provincial Road Champion, and is a two-time winner of the Vancouver’s West Side Classic and Bastion Square Criterium. Rookie TRT team member and “super junior” Adam De Vos, who was 2nd overall at the Victoria Cycling Festival in early June, will also be one to watch at BC Superweek this year.
The Trek Red Truck Racing is also excited to announce that for the Global Relay Gastown Grand Prix, it will be teaming up with the race’s presenting sponsor Allstream. The Trek Red Truck Riders and management would like to thank Allstream for its generous donation to the team’s scholarship fund.
